Holi is one of the major Hindu festivals in India. Generally, Holi is celebrated on the last full moon day in early March every year. In 2020, Holi will fall on 10th March on Tuesday as per the Gregorian calendar. Aptly called the festival of colors, earlier it was celebrated for the fertility of the land and good harvest. The main day of Holi is also known by several other names such as Dhulendi, Dhulandi or Dhulhendi.

The bonfires are lit as a symbolic eradication of the demoness Holika. Like every other year Holi 2020 is the time for everybody to join in the celebrations irrespective of their caste, religion, color, language and creed. On the day of Holi, the streets are filled up with people splashed in various colors, it is almost impossible to distinguish who is who. People move from house to house smearing people with the colors, eating sweets, drinking thandai laced with a slight amount of intoxicant known as Bhang. By noon, the coloring aspect of Holi comes to an end, most people head towards their homes while some prefer to go to ponds and indulge in some more fun with all those who have come to wash off the colors.
