VIEW ALLWhen is Holi?
Among many festivals in our land of cultural diversity, Holi is one of those few ones that join the whole country in one string. The Hindu spring festival of colors is generally celebrated with fun and fervor right at the arrival of spring and end of the winter. Some opine it is celebrated as a thanksgiving to the Almighty for a great harvest season. Some others believe that it is celebrated to signify the triumph of good over evil.
The crux is that people meet and greet each other to spend a lovely time with colors, food, snacks, and sweets. Many people get confused that Holi is a two-day festival or not? Actually, it lasts for 24 hours from one evening to the other. In the Hindu month of Phalguna (generally end of February to the beginning of March), the evening of the Full Moon day falling in the Vikram Samvat Hindu Calendar is meant for Holika Dahan. This evening is known as Chhoti Holi and this year, it is falling on 10th March, 2020. The following day of Holika Dahan is spent in smearing colors on near and dear ones. The main festival of colors would be on 10th March 2020.
Apart from all the states of India, Holi is celebrated with great enthusiasm in countries like Nepal, Pakistan, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname, Fiji, and Mauritius. Enjoy this beautiful festival forgetting all your agony and welcome new colors of hope in your life.
